Freebies! Valentine gives away beautiful hearts

Valentine – who is not familiar with it. This day symbolizes like no other the lovers and you give and receive nice gifts. Flowers, small caloriebombs and other bells and whistles, the industry and the retailers are pleased to sell and hopefully the recipients just love them.

Cause Giving brings so much fun and joy, I have designed some nice freebies in heart shape for you who can embroider, just for yourself or to give away. For the reason it takes some time to prepare, you get the freebies already today.

I quite simply offer theses hearts to myself and therefore I made a small spring-table-runner for my dining table. Perhaps you remember the table runner, made of embroidered Portuguese-style tiles on cork leather, I made last year. This new one is working quite similar, so please have a look for the instrucions in the following link:

Using the shape-designer of my BERNINA 880, I designed 3 different motives for the maxi/jumbo-hoop and 3 different ones for the oval-hoop, that can be embroidered on the smaller BERNINA machines.

I chose the new pastel colors of my cork leathers, that fit very well for spring season: the pastel pink, the creme-white and the nice strong color of watergreen. All corkleathers are available here in my corkshop:

Each piece is about 40cm long and at least 22 cm wide. The embroidery designs can be adjusted in size, so there should be no problem depending the width of the cut cork strips.

Put some cheap “tear-off” fleece in your hoop, and fix the corkfabric with some adhesive spray. And have a go!

At the end of this afternnon, all seven stripes are embroideres, all threads are cut off, so have a look for some inspiration:

Before I sew the single corkstripes together I fix them with stripes of Vliesofix on the left side. Be careful not to iron with too high temperature! Corkleather is relatively insensitive to heat, but the polyester carrier shrinks at too high temperature – and the surface of cork shrinks too.

In a last work step I stitch around the outside edge and the table runner gets a pretty completion.

Add some flowers and you are in the middle of spring – well not yet – but soon!
