When I first saw the 3D Poinsettia StumpWork project designed by Andrea Mueller in 2016 and posted on the Bernina International Blog, without a doubt, I knew I had to meet the challenge of creating it. So, I transposed the instructions from “Swenglish” to English and stitched out the 16 petals in two hoopings, using the Jumbo and Maxi hoops. Ms. Mueller has perfected the StumpWork technique for modifying the digitizing so that the sewn-in wires are not cut at the base of the petal during the CutWork process. My fabric is two layers of 100% polyester lining for each petal. To highlight the shape of each petal, I applied glitter glue around the edges. Knowing that my skills in floral arrangement are nil, I asked my local florist to design the presentation. As you can see, she did an amazing job! You may be sure that I am very proud of completing this unique project, a tabletop presentation I can use for many years to come.
