Today we start working in the second CreativCenter of BERNINA Korea, the “main-station” if you like, that is located not so far from the outsides of Seoul, in Seongnam City.
BERNINA Korea had chosen four 1-day classes with equal content, so there will not be that many news, but, as you will notice all classes vary a lot from another.
Let’s go!
Mr. Lee was so kind to transport all further workshop material, that I did not take in my suitcase by car to Seongnam and when we arrived monday morning all working tables had already been prepared – what a brilliant service – thank you so much!
Sue, my translater had also arrived, so I was “completed”.
We startet again with an entire presentation and explanaition on materials we would work with. And finally the ladies could start. Cutting fabrics, getting colours, preparing for the first prints.
Jony Kyeong Lee used the stencils also for stamping, not only for printing.
What fantastic fabrics got printed that morning, well done, ladies!
And again we could choose within a large range of BERNINA sewing machines.
Some print were not touched and quiltet – you will see in a minute why that happened.
Very impressing prints found on the white fabrics – I was really overwhelmed!
Aussergewöhnliche Kombinationen:
The day passed quickly and at the end the certificated were handed out. What a warm feedback :-).
Second day in Seongnam followed in a very similar way. We carried on working intense and concentrated:
And this lovely lady travels to France to the “Carrefour Européen du Patchwork” at Alsace – there she bought the stencils from my usual supplier “mijn-eigen.nl”. Small world, we are living in ;-).
And of course a long workshopday make you get a little tired. So have a rest and get a cup of tea or coffee.
I must confess that I became a little melancholy, when handing out the last certificates. All four workshops passed so quickly. BERNINA Korea did such big efforts and accomplishments to make these classes happen. All meetings were enriching, touching and so positiv. I will never miss one second of it. Thank you so much, Team of BERNINA Korea!
And some of these ladies here be the “Extra european guest of honor country (KR)” at the Carrefour Européen du Patchwork, mid of september this year. Looking forward to see you there :-).

And here are some more photos of the last evenings dinner. We had lots of fun, enjoyed the lovely meal and talked about the last few days.
Choosing the aperitif 😉
some first dishes…
caution: hot!
nice smells
It was a lovely evening. And my flight to India only left in the afternoon and gave me some time to see a bit more from Seoul.
Jong Kyeong Lee wanted to show me the fabric market in Seou. It must be the largest of this kind in the world, she assumed. Approx 25000 sqm on 5 levels in two buildings, I could not imagine at this moment.
Well, there I bought some fabrics, special korean ones to do a memory quilt of this journey. And some batiks, I could not resist. But nothing else, because I got terribly overwhelmed by the amount of articles and fabrics that was offered there, within minutes! Well, you will read and see it in the next blogpost here, next Tuesday.
Bye the way – you wonder what happened to these beautiful black-white-blue prints, Jony Kyeong Lee did?
Here they are:
she made this bag “overnight” and presented it the next morning.
West meets East. Modern prints combined with traditional korean Quiltart, perfecty done. I had achieved my aim for the workshops.
See you soon,
Jutta Hellbach
