Evening bag with free machine embroidery by Trudy Billingsley

Embroidered Bag

I just received my new BERNINA 720 and wow! I started playing with it straight after my lesson this morning and made an evening bag with free machine embroidery. The leaves were made by drawing leaf shapes onto fused fabric with satin stitching around the edges. I finished it off with a few beads and attached a twisted cord around the flap with my fabulous BERNINA Edgestitch Foot #10.

I have fallen in love with the scissor function that cuts the threads and raises the foot every time I press it at the end of my work.

What fun it is to use!

About Trudy Billingsley

Trudy’s love of the Australian landscape’s brilliant colours and the character of its people, have been strong influences on her working style.

Memories and sketches from numerous journeys and family holidays have served as an endless source of design ideas for her creative wearable art, wall quilts and fashion accessories.

The environment and our people form an important part of Trudy’s painterly impressions of our magnificent land. She enjoys using found and collected objects, memorabilia, documents, stamps, buttons, beads, uniforms, sketches, and overlay and cutback work to embellish the surface texture of her work.

Trudy’s methods of working have been self-developed and have been simplified to facilitate group participation in both large and small projects. By using a wide variety of fabrics and found fragments, silks, cottons, chintz, wools, and threads, she manipulates and moulds her materials to create the textural effect needed to embellish a garment or fibre wall piece.
