When the parcel arrived with the red felt and the male shape, I was a bit taken aback, as I had already planned something else. But the fire engine red of the felt reminded me that firefighters are passionate about their jobs and their community engagements. My nephew is a keen volunteer firefighter and every year he helps raise funds for Leukemia by climbing the highest building in New Zealand in full fire fighters kit.
I enjoyed working on the project and as it was small, it did not take much time, but I spent a lot of time thinking about it.

These fire fighters are so brave we are lucky to have them, GOD BLESS them. Great Art work thank you for sharing.
It was fantastic to see this beautiful panel in Napier recently. As a proud mother and grandmother of two NZ Volunteer Firefighters it was great to view this in NZ Volunteer Week.
I love the way you have depicted the flames and highlighted the work of the firemen Mary. His uniform is amazing too. What a clever way to use the red felt. Highlighting a worthy cause too in your piece reminded me of the fact that we are so lucky to be in good health as we sit and sew. Well done!
Looks awesome Mary!
Color, heat, flames, words, the brave standing fireman – a perfect combination – and technically very well transformed. I like your piece of artwork.
Oh ladies – I am happy :-)) feel embraced – all of you!
