An elegant lingerie bag

The team whose quilt won viewers’ choice in the Game of Quilts event at the Festival of Quilts earlier this year were treated to a day in the London schoolroom of Bogod (the official importers of Bernina machines in the UK).  We designed a project which would give the ladies an opportunity to see how wonderful the software and the embroidery unit is and also an opportunity to play with some the beautiful embroidery stitches.  To introduce the software and hooped applique we designed a personalized monogram on the front and an appliqued initial on the back.  The rest of the bag, which was made up of a variety of co-ordinating fabrics in various sizes, was left to the ladies to be creative with the pile of lace, ribbons and to experiment with the embroidery stitches in the machines.

It is a posh lingerie bag to keep all your ‘smalls’ (bras and pants, etc) together when you travel.  It measures 14″ x 21″ (35 x 52cm) and is lined.  Here is the sample I made up (which is a gift for my daughter-in-law).

Following on the success and fun of the first bag I have started making them for my special friends.  Here is another one which is simpler (it has a plain back) but just as pretty.
