Hands up those of you who wake up some mornings, have a quick shower, tie your hair back (without brushing it) and throw on the same clothes you wore yesterday. Some days you just can’t be bothered to iron a fresh new shirt, or figure out what top looks good with what trousers. You just want getting dressed to be effortless. So with this in mind I made myself a Big Black Dress that I can just chuck on over a pair of leggings and go. No ironing, no fuss, no effort. Dress and go.

How to make a Big Black Dress

You will need:

• Big Black Dress pattern (one size fit all most)
• 2.20m of medium weight knit fabric. (The dress in the image above is a black quilted knit, but I have also made one in a chunky grey rib and it looked fabulous.)
