Dear community,
in this blog post you can find detailed instructions for sewing a snowman application (with free template).

What better for children than some winter snow!?

My two boys can hardly wait for the first snow of the year and are already looking forward to building their first snowman in our garden. While they’re waiting, they will love to have their first snowman on a T-shirt.

These sweet little snowmen are easy to apply to a shirt. You are welcome to download a template for them here: >click<

What you need:

  • T-shirt
  • Fabric remnants
  • Fusible web
  • Stabiliser
  • Buttons or Kam snaps

Fusible web, a double-sided adhesive iron-on film, is the best way to apply the design. Since one side is covered with paper, the motif can be drawn on this, or in our case traced.

I like to use jersey fabric for clothes. For the snowman I have used Alpenfleece. It looks really pretty if the material is not just a different colour but also a different texture.

Cut the fusible web generously around the shape and then iron it onto the left side of the fabric. Then the individual parts are easy to cut out.

Now peel off the paper from the back and lay the snowman on the shirt. The individual parts can slightly overlap or even lay over each other. At the end everything is carefully ironed once more and fixed in place with zig-zag or straight stitch.

I recommend using a stabilizer on the back of the T-shirt.

Once everything has been appliquéd, the buttons are sewn on, or in my case the Kam snaps fastened in place.

And it’s finished!

My boys are really happy with their T-shirts and they now have just the right outfit for the Christmas festivities!

With love,

Andrea
