Rainbow Tote Bag

The rainbow consists of seven colours as we know it. Red signifies passion, vitality, enthusiasm, and security. Orange is a dynamic colour representing creativity, practicality, and playfulness. Yellow represents clarity of thought, wisdom, orderliness, and energy. Green denotes fertility, growth, balance, health, and wealth. The sky and the wide oceans are blue and hence it has been associated with spirituality and divinity. Indigo is mystical as it bridges the gap between finite and infinite. Violet is considered the highest element of spirituality. It can ignite one’s imagination and be an inspiration to an artist.

Thus, according to me these seven colours of the rainbow have more to it than meets the eye; they have their philosophical significances, specific functions and purpose. So I feel since these specific colours disperse from light, they have a significance together that no other colour combinations have. I love making hand dyed fabrics. That’s when I got this idea of rainbow. So I made hand dyed rainbow coloured fabrics. Using stripes and curved piecing I made the front top of this tote bag and used yellow fabric for the back side. The contrasting colours on this bag make it more interesting and attractive.

And the most beautiful part, is the magic of this Awesome Quilting done by  my Genie( Bernina Q20). I used organic forms for Quilting. Quilting done on BSR mode2. I used Mettler 100% polyester variegated thread. Bernina Q20 gives us really perfect stitches. I never imagined a colourful tote bag would look so beautiful… What do you think?
