Anyone for pizza?

My little granddaughter, Leah, is two and a bit and loves cooking and baking – just like her mum.  In a bit of a hurry (inspiration came late) I created this pizza with a variety of ingredients for her to play with in her ‘kitchen’.

The pizza is divided into 4 slices so everyone can have a slice each.  The base is two layers of felt with a layer of heavy weight Lutradur between to stiffen it up.  I hand sewed the side edges of the slices, slipped the stiffener in between and then sewed a line of stitching about an inch in from the outside edge.  This is a ‘stuffed crust’ pizza so I stuffed the outer area and then hand sewed the outer edge closed.

Now come the ingredients for making the best pizza in Scotland!  The tomato sauce is a piece of red felt cut to fit inside the stuffed crust.  On top of that is the mozzarella layer – cut just smaller than the tomato layer.

Picture shows the different layers and stages of creating the pizza.

The mushrooms, tomato slices, onions and chorizo slices are all stitched on two layers of felt.  The green peppers are a single layers though maybe another time I would make them out of two layers.

I hope that you will be inspired to create some pizzas for your own budding chefs and will share ingredients you have created.

      Hy Debra,
Since Hilary has not been active since 2017, she probably won’t answer. But I did a little Google search and found some cool embroidered pizza felt toy Designs on Etsy (just make sure you get the correct format for your machine):

      ITH Pizza with 17 pieces

      ITH Pizza with 8 pieces

      ITH Pizza with 5 pieces

I do not own these designs so I cannot say how well they work, but they do look very nice and offer the EXP file for BERNINA machines 🙂 Hope this helps!

      Kind regards, Ramona

        Hi Debra,

I am still around just not very active.  I would be happy to share the designs.  There are tomato, onion, mushroom and chorizo designs.  Hilary

        Hy Hilary,

Great to see you! Sorry for assuming that you probably won’t see the comment after a few years and thank you for coming by 🙂

        Hi Ramona,

Tried to find a way to contact you but the blog isn’t helpful.  Are you able to add links to embroidery files to the article “Anyone for Pizza” for the pizza toppings please.  I cannot work out how to add them.  I can easily send them to you for uploading.  Sorry, but I would have done it if I could see a way to.

        Best wishes,

        Hilary
