Fabric remnants – who doesn’t have them?

And I am constantly asking myself, how can I use these up? Of course, there are lots of possibilities. But many of the remnants simply get tossed into a box. Most of them were pieces that were no longer usable for most sewing projects.

What to do?

Then I had the bright idea to turn them into large patchwork loop scarves.

It is very easy to do and has the added bonus that both small and large fabric remnants can be used. Even a mix of materials is possible. This way, all of the remnants from your favorite materials can be put to good use.

In the meantime, I began collecting and sorting the fabric remnants by color. I no longer sew these patchwork scarves just for me. Every year I find enthusiastic customers in my circle of friends and acquaintances. It really is an excellent and sensible gift.

The project has a length of 120-150 cm and a width of approx. 70 cm, which is then closed together into a loop. I enjoy working on the floor and laying out the scraps of material like puzzle pieces. This allows you to comfortably move things around as much as you need until a beautiful and harmonious pattern emerges.

I sew together the individual parts, piece by piece, with the overlocker. I especially like having the seams on the outside. If you make it neatly, at the end you will have just one seam that you will have to sew up the threads on.

Of course, it is also possible to sew the material right side to right side, as you are accustomed to. Or, instead of many small parts, string together many long strips. To get the cuddliest results, you can use materials such as knitted fabrics, velour, or sweats.

But as I said, you can easily include your woven material remnants. Over the years I have used practically everything at some point. It is important for the overall look that the same fabric remnants are well spread out through the whole loop and individual patterns are repeated.
