In November, we are once again offering you a free pattern with instructions from the “inspiration” magazine. This month we will be sewing a cozy coat.
As with last month’s “Winnie” children’s jacket, you’ll have to be quick again! The sewing pattern will be available until the end of the month, that is until November 30, 2020. The download link for the pattern is available below in the article.

Sewing the “Fiona” coat
This grey woolen coat is a classic must-have, because it is not only versatile, but also comfortable. A long coat made of woolen fabric, it looks inviting and snug in classic colors such as grey, off-white or camel. The cross seam in the back gives this coat a nice casual style.
Issue #66 of inspiration
The sewing pattern and instructions for the coat are from issue 66, the 2016 autumn/winter edition of inspiration magazine. The coat even made it onto the cover of the magazine at that time:
In the issue, you will find, among other things, a pair of pants with a belt to go with the coat and the handbag shown in the picture above.
The pants with an ironed-in pleat are classically elegant, yet casual. They have front pockets. A particular feature are the piped pockets made of soft synthetic leather on the back. The waistband or belt, made of soft synthetic leather, makes these pants something special. This is only attached by snaps, meaning that it can be removed, allowing the pants to be worn with or without the belt.
The rectangular bag with squares, diamonds or stripes in contrasting colors is absolutely trendy and goes perfectly with the woolen coat. The base of the bag is made from the same soft synthetic leather as the waistband of the pants.

Unzip the zip file containing the pattern
After downloading, you will have a zip file. In the extracted folder you will find:
- Sewing instructions with information on materials, cutting out and sewing
- A pattern in A4 format for sizes 36 to 48. You can print this out on your regular printer at home and stick the sheets together. Make sure you print out the pattern using the “original size” setting. Check the test square to make sure the pattern has been printed out in the correct size.
In the article about the “Grace” pants, which were offered as a free download in February, some readers commented that the download did not work for them. Therefore please note that clicking the download button will automatically download the zip file to your computer. You will have to unzip it to access the PDF pattern for the dress. In Windows, you do this by right clicking on the file and clicking on the menu item “Extract all”. On a Mac, you can unzip zip files by double clicking the left mouse button.
Downloaded files are generally automatically put into the downloads folder, but this depends on the operating system, the device used and your local settings. If you download the file on your smartphone and cannot find the file or cannot unzip it, please try using a desktop computer.
Missed the download?
Do you want to sew the coat, but missed the download for the pattern? No problem! You can order the magazine as a single issue (including the printed pattern) from the shop and have it delivered to your home. Simply click on the following link:

Hi, Is there any way to get the instructions only in English, the patterns themselves are not an issue just the instructions. I accidently downloaded from the German site last year. Think I have done this with a few by mistake. Any help would be apprecited. Thanks
I’ve tried several times to find / connect to the free download but I have not been successful. Can you help? thank you
Hello,
The link is almost at the end of this page, just below the pictures of the bag, pants, and above and below the photos of the coat.
The problem is that the link does NOT go to issue #66 or the FIONA coat pattern. I got the Eva blouse (from September) instead. This is very frustrating!
Hello,
I checked the article and links, they are correct. There must be some other issue. However, I do not want you to miss out on this project and will therefore send you the pattern directly via e-mail 🙂
I have the same problem.
In this case, I will send it to you as well!
