Hi, I’m Samantha and I’m incredibly excited to announce I am joining the BERNINA blogger family.
About Me – Purplesewingcloud
You may also know me from my own blog and instagram space were I’m known as Purple Sewing Cloud. I live in the Gateshead, a small town in the North East of England. I have a huge passion for lots of crafts but my main love is sewing, I mainly sew garments and lots of pretty dresses but I also love quilting and trying new sewing techniques.
Blogging sewing with disabilities and chronic illnesses
I started speaking with BERNINA a few months ago, our conversation originally started with a video call about creating accessibility information for website. During our conversations BERNINA asked if I would like to write for them and create some blog posts about sewing with disabilities and chronic illnesses.
It’s a great honour to be invited to write for them, I will write some posts about sewing with chronic illnesses and my disabilities but I also will write lots on sewing projects too. Is there anything you’d like to see from me?
My New BERNINA 480 Machine
BERNINA have sent me a BERNINA 480 to work with and I’ve included a video unboxing it here.
I’m still getting used to the machine but I’m already finding the b480 and the features easier to use with my disabilities, including the easy change feet and free hand system.
My next post will be all about the features on the B480 that are helping me to sew more with my disabilities. Are there any features you would like me to discuss?
BERNINA accessibility
I will continue to work with BERNINA to make accessibility information available and hopefully it will be coming soon.
It’s very special to me that they have given me a space as a disabled maker to write more about my experiences and the ways I’ve learnt to sew. I hope that you can learn something from my future writing and take away new skills, tips and tricks whether you have disabilities or not.
I’m excited to share more with you soon,
happy sewing,
Samantha
Really enjoyed the video Sam. You did a great job!
So glad someone is looking at sewing for people with long term health issues and or disabilities.
Aww love the unboxing Sam! Well done lovely for all your hard work – can’t wait to see the blog posts.
