Sewing the dress “Maike”
We used a bamboo viscose jersey for this shirt, since it has a silky smooth touch, can absorb more moisture then cotton, is easy to clean and crease-free. Sewing the raglan sleeves with silver stripe is a piece of cake with this cut !
The eyelets and cord are additional sporty details and complete the athletic look.

A look into the Magazine
The pattern and sewing instructions for the “Maike” shirt appeared in the summer issue 2020 of “inspiration”. Be it a top, a dress or a bikini: batik patterns are indispensable in summer. If you find these designs too fancy, but still don’t want to do without a patterned piece, you can opt for stripes – the choice is huge.
Floating, wide maxi dresses; this new trend promises a large portion of summer feeling, femininity and comfort, in addition to which the figure is wonderfully embraced. Whether dress or skirt, neither quite long nor midi, but somewhere in between – that is the new trend length. No matter if you want to show your legs or not: there is the right length for every taste.

The link takes you to the BERNINA website. The pattern is available for free download during the month of May once you register for the BERNINA inspiration newsletter.
Unzip the zip file containing the pattern
After downloading, you will have a zip file. In the extracted folder you will find:
- Sewing instructions with information on materials, cutting out and sewing
- A pattern in A4 format. You can print this out on your regular printer at home and stick the sheets together. Make sure you print out the pattern using the “original size” setting. Check the test square to make sure the pattern has been printed out in the correct size.
Please note that clicking the download button will automatically download the zip file to your computer. You will have to unzip it to access the PDF pattern. In Windows, you do this by right clicking on the file and clicking on the menu item “Extract all”. On a Mac, you can unzip zip files by double clicking the left mouse button.
Downloaded files are generally automatically put into the downloads folder, but this depends on the operating system, the device used and your local settings. If you download the file on your smartphone and cannot find the file or cannot unzip it, please try using a desktop computer.

Hi 🙋♀️. I can’t find the sizing on the pattern or the instructions sheet. How do I know which size to cut the pattern to?
