Hi! In this post I want to show you how easy it is to get creative by sewing details to old clothes.

I will be working with a pair of old jeans and a piece of 100% cotton fabric which is leftover material from a  previous home decor project.

I wanted to upcycle and revamp these old jeans which I haven’t used in years.

Materials:

• Old jeans
• Printed cotton fabric
• Sewing machine (I am using a Bernina475 QE)
• Color thread
• Fabric scissors

Step 1:

Place your materials on your working surface.

Decide which part of the printed fabric you want to use.

I am using the white flowers. Cut that area of your fabric.

Place the strip of fabric by your jeans and decide what area of the jeans you want to work on.

I will be sewing my flowers onto one of the legs.

Step 2:

Cut around the flowers.

I am cutting 2 sets of white flowers.

Place the flowers on top of the denim and decide how you want to place them.

Once you are happy with the design it’s time to take the project to the sewing machine 🙂

Step 3:

Remove the wide sewing table so that you can insert the jeans under the needle.

start sewing by using a size 3 regular stitch.

It will get a bit tricky but take it easy and go slowly. you will have to pivot around by lifting the foot and turning your fabric constantly while sewing around the flowers.

Sew one flower first and them move onto the next one.

Once you finish sewing the whole design you can create a frayed edge by rubbing your nails against the cotton fabric.
