a child with ponytail is walking in front of a turqoise container door, wearing the coat made out of a patterned fabric in brown, pink, green and orange, also wearing a jeansdress. She has a pink school backpack in the left hand and a blush pink sheep plush in the right hand. She is smiling and one of her front teeth is missing.

The coat features several elements a child will love:

  • Three large pockets to store everything from handkerchiefs to toys, biscuits and other treasures
  • The hood can be tied if neccessairy and fastened with the small cord stoppers
  • The zip facing ensures that no rain or wind can trespass

The coat is made from coated cotton fabric, which has undergone a coating procedure during the production process to become more functional (for example waterproof). Fabrics with coatings are often stiffer and can be trickier to sew, which is why a Zigzag Foot with Non-Stick Sole #52 will come in handy. We recommend choosing a softer fabric if you plan to sew a small size.

The back of the free sewing pattern "Julia" shows the size of the hood, a large pocket in the middle on the back, and a pink piping strip on the side. The piping ist the same shade of pink as the inside of the hood.

The coat “Julia” has decorative piping on the side seam, which is made of the same fabric as the inside of the hood. There is a big pocket on the back, just in case the large pockets in the front are still not big enough for everything needed to go on an adventure outside. The zip facing on the inside folds over the collar to prevent the zipper from rubbing against the chin.

A close up of this month's free sewing pattern, a brown-greyish coat with pink apples, green leaves and orange flowers as a pattern. The Hood with hot pink inside has two grey cords and blush pink cord stoppers, so the hood can be tied and stays up in bad weather. The grey zipper is closed and has a little triangle fabric piece at the top so it does not rub against the chin and protects the skin.
