Free sewing pattern for the yoga pants “Julia” (January only)

Good news: The first free pattern of 2023 by the magazine “inspiration” is here! The yoga pants “Julia” are almost too good to wear only for training. Why not wear them as super comfortable trousers at home or when travelling ? I will tell you what I love most about this pattern: It has pockets!

You can download the pattern and instructions for free until January 31, 2023 in the paragraph “Download the free sewing pattern for the yoga pants “Julia” (January only)”. As always, you’ll have to be quick because each pattern is only available for free download in the month stated.

A model is doing a yoga pose on their porch, standing on the left leg, the right leg is lifted so the right foot touches the left knee, the hands touch each other above the head. The model is wearing a white tank top and the free sewing pattern, pants "Julia" with purple trims and a white-green tie dye pattern. There is a pastel pink mat on the floor and a bag for the mat on the left in grey. There are trees and bushes in the background.

We used two rayon jersey fabrics for this project: One in purple for the waistband & cuffs, another in a colourful and fun tie dye look. Rayon jersey is especially good for leisurewear since it has a soft texture, is smooth to touch and has a wonderful drape – which means it will easily adapt to your movements.

The smiling model with a messy hair bun wears a white tanktop, the yoga pants "Julia" with a purple waistband and white cord, and has her yoga mat in a grey-green bag. The bag has some flowers and the words "free spirit" embroidered on it in the colour purple

The free sewing pattern features a purple waistband with an elastic band inside. It can be fastened with a cord. Be sure to stabilise the fabric on the front centre before sewing buttonholes for the flat cord. This will ease sewing the buttonholes on stretchy fabrics and also prevent rapid wear and tear.

Sewing pockets with stretchy fabric is a lot easier by ironing on edge tape on the wrong fabric side of the pocket mouths. This will help you keep the nice curve of the pocket opening. Another tip is to use the Dual Feed of your machine or the Three-Sole Walking Foot with Seam Guide #50 for optimized transport of your stretchy fabric.
