Sewing sweatshirt "Cosy" with free pattern (only in February 23)

For the first time since the monthly free download of the magazine “inspiration” started, you can not only download a free pattern, but an embroidery design as well! The sweatshirt “Cosy” features a hummingbird at the back of the neck as a special highlight. Do not miss out on the free sewing pattern and embroidery design of February.

You can download the pattern, instructions and embroidery file for free until February 28, 2023 in the paragraph “Download the free sewing pattern for the sweatshirt “Cosy” (February only)”. As always, you’ll have to be quick because each pattern is only available for free download in the month stated.

Sewing the sweatshirt “Cosy”

You can use a knit fabric of your choice for this project. A fabric with a fluffy texture on the inside will make the sweater especially cosy 😃. If you plan on sewing this project on your overlock, then check Bea’s tutorial for the sweatshirt Cosy! She has documented the process for you. Just look at these satisfying seams!

For the collar, cut the fabric in or at 90° to the grain (depending on the elasticy of the fabric), using the stretchier option. Before sewing on the collar, check whether the head fits through! You can also iron seam tape on the seam allowances on the back part’s shoulder area. This will reduce the stretching of the shoulder seams over time.

If you wish to embroider the cute hummingbird, then embroider it on your pattern piece before you sew your sweatshirt together. To achieve a clean result, choosing the right stabilizer for your fabric is the key to success. The pattern in different formats. You can print out the A4 or US letter pattern on your regular printer at home and stick the sheets together. Make sure you print out the pattern using the “original size” setting. Check the test square to make sure the pattern has been printed out in the correct size. You can use a printing service to print out the A0 format.
A zip file with several embroidery files. The ART70 and ART80 files can be opened and edited with the BERNINA Embroidery Software 7, 8 or 9. You need to transfer the BMP, EXP and PES file to your embroidery machine to embroider the design.

Please note that clicking the download button will automatically download the zip file to your computer. You will have to unzip it to access the files. In Windows, you do this by right clicking on the file and clicking on the menu item “Extract all”. On a Mac, you can unzip zip files by double clicking the left mouse button.

Downloaded files are generally automatically put into the downloads folder, but this depends on the operating system, the device used and your local settings. If you download the file on your smartphone and cannot find the file or cannot unzip it, please try using a desktop computer.
