Free sewing pattern & embroidery design for the shirt “Vio” (March only)

Do not miss out on the free sewing pattern and embroidery design of March! The trendy shirt “Vio” features a fun rolled hem and an embroidered slogan as special highlights.

You can download the pattern, instructions and embroidery file for free until March 31, 2023 in the paragraph “Download the free sewing pattern for the shirt “Vio” (March only)”. As always, you’ll have to be quick because each pattern is only available for free download in the month stated.

The shirt "Vio" is mustard yellow and has wavy rolled hems on the sleeves, waist and neckline. It is made out or ripped jersey and features a black embroidered design saying "Weekend, I'm ready for you". The brown haired model with long hair wears sunglasses and black jeans with the crop top. The picture on the top right shows a close up of the free embroidery design, and the top left shows the technical drawing of the pattern.

Sewing the shirt “Vio”

You can use a ribbed tricot fabric for this project. If you wish for step by step instructions, be sure to visit the article of Hannah-Rose, where she demonstrates how she created her own version of this shirt: Sew Along for the Vio Shirt

To embroider the Weekend slogan, hoop self-adhesive embroidery stabilizer “Solufix” in the hoop, remove the backing paper and stick the wrong side of the fabric onto it. Make sure that the stripes of the rib are straight and stick a layer of non-adhesive Solufix on top of the fabric. You can also baste the top layer of Solufix in place. This method prevents the sitches from sinking into the knit and stretching the fabric when hooping and embroidering.

To create a playfull 3-thread rolled hem and make it stand out more, we used the bulky yarn “Seraflock” from Mettler. You can achieve a strong wavy effect by stretching the fabric while sewing.

The hem at the waist and wrist of the free pattern "Vio" are wavy.

Rolled hems are so quick and fun! And if the crop top is too short for you (or not short enough), you can easily adjust the length to your liking.
