Free sewing pattern for the dress “Linda” (April only)

Slightly figure-hugging and breezy: this month’s free pattern from inspiration Magazine is the dress “Linda”, and it’s perfect for the changing seasons. Style the dress with tights and boots for colder days or combine it with a straw hat and sandals for a stroll on the beach. You can download the pattern and instructions for free until April 30, 2023 in the paragraph “Download the free sewing pattern for the dress “Linda” (April only)”. As always, you’ll have to be quick because each pattern is only available for free download in the month stated.

The dress "Linda" boasts a green and brown print of palm leaves and other plants and the long haired model wears several long necklaces, a few bracelets with it. She has a straw hat in one hand and is walking along a stone patchway through a garden of palms and other plants.

Sewing the dress “Linda”

You can change the look of this dress tremendously with the colours and print size of the chosen fabric. Due to the simple cut, the print really stands on its own and is the centre of attention. Our thin linen fabric boasts a stylish print with big leaves and flowers, perfect for a light and and fresh look. You could also experiment with different dyeing techniques to create a unique print for this dress. Just imagine the possibilities!

The neckline has a facing for a clean finish and the in-seam pockets will surely come in handy. There are multiple ways to sew an in-seam pocket. The instructions of the inspiration Magazine state to first close the side seam, sew the pocket bags to the seam allowance and open the seam at the pocket opening afterwards. You can also follow the hidden in-seam pocket tutorial from Hannah-Rose with a different approach: Attach the pocket bags to the panels first, then close the side seam and pocket bag in one go. Once you have mastered this technique, you can add pockets to any dress or skirt you already own.

The free pattern features a hidden pocket in the side seam, which can be seen in this close up picture of the side of the dress "Linda".

Hello Bernina,I would not wear this dress if someone made it for me and gave it to me for free, I certainly wouldn’t waste my time making one. Surly Bernina could come up with a better pattern than this, it doesn’t even look nice on the pretty professional model, also looks like it needs a good iron. Come on Bernina pull your socks up. Luck for me, your machines are much better than your patterns.

      Dear Liz,

This month’s free pattern might not be the style you are looking for, but since the free pattern changes every month, there might be something for you in the future.

      Kind regards, Ramona

Hi Ramona, thank you for taking the time to reply.

It’s nothing to do with the style, it’s the look of the dress, it looks shabby, but sadly I won’t hold my breath waiting for the next pattern. I have been receiving these newsletters for more than two years and am now unsubscribing, I have found nothing of interest.

but it would be great for a beginner, someone on a weightloss journey, post pregnancy and not yet to their goal weight/shape.  You can find this type pattern in all the catalog pattern books at your store.
