This month’s free pattern from inspiration Magazine is the handbag “Klara”. The bag in muted winter red is an eye-catcher because of its colour. Sewing the handbag “Klara”

Imitation leather is easy to handle with the right techniques. If you have not worked with imitation leather before and want to get to know this material better, be sure to read Jessica Rose’s article “How to sew with fake leather – Knotted Leather Keychain Tutorial”. Jessica also prepared a step-by-step instructions for the handbag “Klara”. She even made a second bag out of a different material because sewing this month’s free pattern was so fun and fast.

To ensure that your bag keeps its shape, make sure to iron Decovil onto the bottom before sewing. The reinforcement is also very important for keeping the eylets intact. The strap is pulled through large eyelets and knotted so that the length can be perfectly adjusted. This means that the weight of the bag puts a lot of stress on the eyelets and without the reinforcement, they could come loose.

Unzip the zip file containing the pattern

In case you download the zip file instead of the pdf’s, this is what you will find in the extracted folder:

• Sewing instructions with information on materials, cutting out and sewing
• A pattern in A4 format. You can print this out on your regular printer at home and stick the sheets together. Make sure you print out the pattern using the “original size” setting. Check the test square to make sure the pattern has been printed out in the correct size.

Please note that clicking the download button will automatically download the zip file to your computer. You will have to unzip it to access the PDF pattern. In Windows, you do this by right clicking on the file and clicking on the menu item “Extract all”. On a Mac, you can unzip zip files by double clicking the left mouse button.
