It’s a very easy to make hot summer shirt. There are several options: make it with the cutwork, only embroidery or without embroidery or cutwork.
Print the pattern:Don’t forget step 4, and adjust if necessary.
Supplies:
I used Mettler Seralon sewing thread instead of embroidery thread.
Cutting:
It’s easy to embroider on the full fabric before cutting out the pattern parts. Take standard stabilizer if you skip the cutwork.
Be sure to embroider on a 15 cm from the top edge of the fabric. This will give enough space to cut out the shoulder seams as well.
Start with the cutwork and embroidery.
Hover over the embroidery files to find out about the measurements. There are different sizes of the embroidery. In fact, I had liked to choose a bigger one, but didn’t notice the sizes.
Sew the Sia shirt:
I overlocked the centre front parts with the BERNINA L 460, to iron open the seams. This prevents from having bulky seams to sew biastape over.
I ironed seam tape as stabilizer along the armholes, the neckline and the shoulder seam. It is especially useful with thin fabrics, sewing a seam on the bias. It depends on the fabric if this is necessary, don’t exaggerate.
After closing one shoulder seam, I added biastape along the neckline. It’s easy to do with the Binder Attachment for Pre-Folded Bias Tape #87.
In the instructions, the bias tape is folded to the inside, it makes a wider neckline.
Sew the second shoulder seam and overlock. Iron the shoulder seams to the back.
Sew the bias tape to the armholes.
Close the sideseams and hem the shirt and iron. It’s finished!
I hope this tutorial to sew the Sia shirt – free pattern June 2024 is helpful.
