Dear readers,
The year 2024 is drawing to a close, and it has been a magical year! Under the motto “Create your Magic”, we celebrated the launch of the new BERNINA 990 at BERNINA. The blog was also covered in magical glitter dust. New instructions every day encouraged you to create your very own magic pieces with your sewing machine, fabric and thread.
Finally, and as a thank you for your loyalty as readers, there is a prize draw today with great prizes.
You can find all the information below. But first, let’s take a look at what the Füssli family is up to. As you probably know, there’s a trio of sewing feet in Steckborn, Switzerland who are very busy at Christmas time. What happens after work in Steckborn? 🤔 We were on site with a camera and discovered something amazing: The sewing feet work night shifts! Always accompanied by their faithful friend, the pincushion, of course.
The new Christmas video from BERNINA
Or is the pincushion a girlfriend? Our new video raises questions about this. Some things remain in the dark. See for yourself:
One thing is certain: The little sewing feet are technically gifted and passionate about their work. When everything is asleep in Steckborn, they work hard and give our products heart and soul 💕.
Have you watched the video to the end? Then you now know how the “Quality Control” stamp came to be on your BERNINA certificate. 😊
Share the video on social media!
Perhaps you would like to share the Christmas video on Instagram or Whatsapp or other channels? You are very welcome to do so. The more people find out about the secret activities of our little feet, the better.
We are happy to provide you with the video as an MP4 file. Under the following links you can download the video in two versions, one in full length, one shortened to 60 seconds:
Download Video for WhatsApp
Download Video for Instagram and Facebook
Clicking on the links will automatically download a ZIP file to your computer. You will usually find it in the Downloads folder, but this depends on your device and your local settings.
Unzip the ZIP and the videos will be available as MP4 files. You can upload the latter to Instagram, Whatsapp and other channels and hopefully bring a smile to many people’s faces! Please use the hashtag on Instagram #BERNINAxmas2024.
Christmas raffle
To round off the year, we would like to enchant you once more: You can win magical gifts! We are giving away three sets of a sparkling BERNINA Christmas ornament, a USB-stick shaped like BERNINA machines, a BERNINA accessory pouch and a mug of the B 990 which inspired the motto “Create your Magic” of this years Advent Calendar.
But the magic does not stop here. We are also giving away a bernette 38! The b 38 offers all fuctions a sewist needs to realize their projects. The automatic thread cutter, adjustable presser foot pressure and 394 different stitches are invaluable to achieve great results, even with stretchy fabrics. It also comes with eight different presser feet!
How you can take part in the prize draw
To take part in the prize draw, please use the comment function below this post and leave a Christmas greeting. Or tell us what you like – and don’t like – about the BERNINA blog. Maybe you have an idea for the Christmas video 2025? Then let us know! Either way: By writing a comment, you’ll jump into the lottery pot.
You can leave your comment until midnight on January 5, 2025. The prize draw will take place the following week.
That leaves me with just one thing to say: Thank you! Thanks above all to the blog authors who put their heart and soul into providing fresh sewing, embroidery and quilting ideas every day and make this blog what it is: an inspiring place for everyone who shares a love of sewing, embroidery and quilting.
But thanks also go to you, dear readers. You form the blog community, the blog lives from your interest. We are particularly pleased to see photos of your work on social media and in the community section – when it becomes clear that the creativity, passion and magic of our authors is spreading to you.
Have a good start to the new year, stay healthy and stay with us! We look forward to seeing you again here on the BERNINA blog in the new year.
Best regards
Ramona

Merry Christmas to Bernina! I loved the Bernina feet elves! So much fun!
I love the Christmas video and the blogs are very informative.A possible idea for the Bernina feet Christmas video could be the feet sewing a quilt or other project with various techniques being used such as embroidery, appliqué, decorative stitching etc. The feet could take turns for their particular use, maybe with some friendly jostling for their turn 🙂. This would show what each Bernina foot is used for 😁Hope everyone has a lovely, productive year 🎉
Searching for a Squirrel pattern, I found your 2021 Advent Calender (and the Squirrel 😉 ) This lead to the 2024 Calender and teh fun Video!… Thank You for not only posting things to macjine sew but also hand sew patterns like the Squirrel. As this is a slightly differnt from teh one I have I will make it as soon as I egt my printer up and running.
Thanks to everyone at Bernina for the magical sewing machines they create!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone at Bernina and to everyone who sews!

Happy New Year 2025! The presser foot video was adorable (somebody’s really creative!!). I appreciate that the blog sometimes references Bernette machines, not just Berninas. My goal for 2025 is to delve into some of the projects on the blog.
Happy New Year to all! The Bernina blog is quite informative and enjoyable. Always something new to learn.
Happy New Year to all. I love the sewing tips and ideas, but as I only have a Bernina 475QE the embroidery ideas are not any use to me. I would like to see more quilting ideas and tips.

Seasons greeting! The animation with the little sewing feet is so cute! I hope I win the bernette 38, I have never used a Bernina sewing machine, and I hear only excellent thing about all of them – I would LOVE to try it! 🙂
Seasons greetings to Bernina sewists. I love my Bernina machines. I learnt on my mother’s whic had already been in use for 33 years. In 1980 I got an 830 for my 21st birthday present. Two years ago I upgraded to the 880 crystal edition…. what improvements to these 3 marvellous models, from a knee ‘accelerator’ on mum’s, to 20 stitches on my original, and now many, many, many stitch and embroidery options on my newest. If I hadn’t so recently bought it, I’d have invested in the new ‘magic’ one, but mine bring me much joy – which I hope like minded sewists have through 2025.
I love all things Bernina. The blogs helps remind me of features and functions I need to use in my sewing , embroidery and quilting. Thank you for all the knowledge readily available to us from all the educators.
My 990 and me are getting acquainted nicely. She has so many new features for me to learn and I’m loving them so much. So far I’ve used the pin point placement with such pleasure I cannot even explain how I love it. Maneuvering through the new screens has been a whole new education to me find the features I’ve used in my 880 and 580. I’ve delighted with Miss 990, together we already see we will have a loving relationship. Thank you so much for her..and a big THANK YOU to Leon Hoover and the family and staff of Hoover’s Bernina Sew..my favorite place to sew.
My greatest wish is to be a owner of Bernina to live my passion to be creative and happy to see my grand /grand daughters wearing the items I made with love aswell to be creative for my own home aswell to make my dream bedspread that I wanted to make for so long, my dream to se my creation on my bed and to sleep under it.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I am gifting myself a Q16 this year.
I was so excited that my Bernina 990 came in for Christmas instead of March. I am really looking forward to seeing what I can do now. Have a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year!

I love my Bernina and the blog is always full of great tips and ideas to inspire.
This years calendar made me interested in machine emboidery with fringes. Now it´s time to give my machines (and sewing room) a good cleaning and a lot of love after all the work they have done this year.
Merci pour tout
Happy holidays. When I sit down to sew on my Bernina machines, I am in my happy place.
I love an excuse to explore using some of the decorative stitches and utilizing a variety of threads. But I do not want the pressure of perfection being necessary. For example I love the look of red stitches on white cotton but they would have to be perfect for a garment to sport that combo, say around the neckline. But when I used a jelly roll and a sweatshirt to make a jacket I felt free to just run stitches up and down the strips as I knew the fabric was so busy any glitches would not be noticed. The stitches I ran on the black strips between the “panes” of my stunned glass quilt were more obvious….but when there were errors, well hey, it’s a crazy quilt. Crazy stitches could be tolerated. So what I would like to see in the blog are more excuses to play with all those decorative stitches.
Thanks for providing such a wide range of projects and ideas to inspire our creativity!
Merry Christmas! I hope Bernina news team will never run out of good ideas and projects! All the best for New Year 2025! Just found children’s toy storage write up and need to add to my to make list. xx

Merry Christmas and Season’s Greetings from New Zealand. I am looking forward to another year of inspiration and sewing on my BERNINA 780. Wishing everyone a creative and productive year.
When I moved back to PA about 30 years ago, I became interested in quilting but i needed a good sewing machine. My new friend suggested a Bernina and gave me the name of a Bernina dealer near by. I bought a used Bernina and began upgrading over the years. This year I bought the new 990. I am sold on Bernina quality, and my dealer’s customer service. I am a Bernina gal all the way.
Merry Christmas.
I love my Bernina snowing machines – I am a better stitcher because they are precision engineered. May I send a Merry Stitchmas and a very Happy New Year to my fellow Bernina fans.
Merry Christmas! I was gifted my little bernina 20 years ago. It was my first (and still only) sewing machine. I have learned so much new skills thank to that machine, I started to hem pants, then I made patchwork and I just sewed my first jeans!
Merry Christmas!!
Merry Christmas to all of you that have brought such wonderful machines to all of us!! In August I bought a B790 PRO and I have to say I’m so in love!! The machine is so quiet and is such a joy to stitch with. Thank you!!
Merry Christmas!
Thank you for all the inspiration! See you in 2025!
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas 🎄 My mama blessed me with a wonderful machine, now to continue to grow and learn!
Merry Christmas! Season’s Greetings! When I sew with my Bernina machine, the artist in me comes alive inside. My Bernina helps me make my world and those around me, a more beautiful, attractive place where I sew and create colourful, tailored clothes, home decor, toys and more for my family, friends and myself. People ALWAYS ask where I buy my clothes and the other lovely creations I make with my Bernina. Thank YOU Bernina for helping the artist come to life in me!
Wishing everyone a Happy Holiday. I can’t say nothing bad about my Bernina’s. I love each of my Bernina’s. I even purchased my two neices their first Bernina sewing machine. Nothing sews like a Bernina.
Just learning about my 990 with the Mastery pages – So much to learn! A fantastic maching!
I love my bernina
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Merry Christmas! I received my first sewing machine as a gift from my parents in 1972, a Bernina, model 830. Fast forward 48 years and I was at the point of needing a new sewing machine, as my 830 was beyond repair. My heart was set on having another Bernina, but I didn’t know if my pocket book was ready for that. I looked at another brand name machine and then the Bernina 770QE. Afterwards I went home and contemplated my decision, the Bernina won! I’ve had my B770QE since 2020 and have loved it! I had always wanted to learn to quilt and thought that would be an after retirement activity. After purchasing the 770QE I began my quilting journey (even before retirement) and am still going strong, piecing and quilting as much as I can!
Very interesting, I am learning how to blog, thank you! Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year!!!

Merry Christmas to all!
The BERNINA blog is a go to for inspiration. Thanks for all you do to create meaningful and useful posts. Love all things BERNINA!!
I would love to add any of these Bernina prizes to my collection of Bernina sewing machines (1130, 1530, 1630, 7550QE, Bernette 334DS overlocker, Bernette Funlock 42),, especially the Bernette b38, which would be easy to carry to workshops.
Merry Christmas to you all… I just love my 770 QEE & look forward to receiving my blog email and just love the Advent Calendar every year!!! I hope everyone has a super New Year and good luck for 2025!
I love opening the blog each month to see the free sewing patterns. The new format is colourful and very appealing.
I don’t have a fancy new Bernina although it’s always on my wish list. I purchased my 1030 over 30 years ago, and I feel like shouting, every time I use it, “I LOVE MY BERNINA!” It continues to give me great joy, and it’s never let me down by being temperamental or ornery (unlike a previous machine that shall remain nameless). Perhaps this all sounds vaguely anthropomorphic, but my machine and I have shared many projects and creative adventures through the years. I’ve only recently discovered your inspirational blog, and your Christmas video continues the magic. THANK YOU, Bernina!
Merry Xmas and a Happy NewYear. Enjoy the blog a lot and learn of new ideas.
Loved the video. It really makes me smile every time I watch it. Merry Christmas Bernina. I love the blogs.
Love the Christmas video – so so cute. I enjoy the blog & learn something new. Merry Christmas to everyone!

Happy Christmas to the Bernina World! I look forward each year to the Bernina Feet Pixies antics and lovely music.
Christmas is a time of giving and a reflection that we care. Bernina has helped me express this by making the gifts on my amazing machine and seeing the smiles (the gift I long for)on friends family and even just those I choose to bless. The joy of a new challenge is even more exiting.
Merry Christmas to you all. I have been sewing for many years but never had such wonderful experiences while using my Bernina. Such a great product. Love reading the blogs and have learned so much-thanks.
I look forward to the Bernina blog every month! I have made many of the ideas offered on the email BUT best of all I LOVE the cute little elf Christmas feet! They are fantastic and very entertaining! Thank you 😘

This year’s advent calendar posts were great! My favorite projects were the bottle tote with bow tie handle, the jeans zipper pouches, the fabric hair bow, & the boho dog collar. The projects are always so well explained, with plenty of photos. I’d love to own a Bernina machine; I think my favorite feature would be the dual feed–no more creepy-crawlies! Merry Christmas to everyone!
I enjoy the Blog & love my 990 & 880. I started with Artista 180 E, moving up a step at a time & have come a long way in machines & experience. With the software I’m able to personalize my gifts for family & friends, as well. Merry Christmas, please continue the videos. They are so much fun to watch.
Thank you for making the most beautiful and functional sewing machines in the world. I love all my Berninas: my vintage Artista 640, my new 735 and my 850 serger!

Create with Bernina, My Mum began to do that back in 1950, when Dad gave her one, maybe the 801 with a reverse and a zigzag, dresses for local ladies, cow cover repairs , my wedding gown in 1962, The lace went to younger daughter for her own wedding dress, I still have the satin underskirt. and since then a Bernina has been in our family. Older daughter has one, mine went to younger daughter when Hugh gave me a QE 440, and they have stood the distance so well.Mine has now sewn 11,178,765 stitches and is venturing into new creations with faux leather and vinyl .Your blog gives me everything needed to continue with Bernina for the rest of my life.
Thank you Bernina, the 990 is true Magic!

Love, love, love Bernina. Started sewing in 1970 with my first Bernina.. Passed it on to my daughter when my husband bought me a new one to celebrate my retirement in 2002. It’s my very close, clever and entirely reliable friend. It never fails to give me joy throughout the many days I spend playing with fabric in my sewing room. Thank you Bernina. I don’t know what I’d do without you.

Merry Christmas everyone and all the best in the New Year. I enjoy finding the blog posted in my inbox. I’ve saved so many of them in my Bernina “to do” file that I will never be without something to do when I finally retire. So many wonderful ideas! Hello Bernina peopleThank you for the opportunity to enter the prize draw and thank you for your wonderful machines.
