Use edgestitch foot #10 for accurate topstitching as it is an excellent help to sew precisely along a seam or edge. The presser foot is designed to follow along an edge.
Here’s a helpful video:
Let me show you some of my examples to convince you. I used Edgestitch Foot #10 for so many projects in the past. To be honest, I got compliments for the neat sewing.
Follow a seam with the guide blade. Set the needle position to the left according to the distance you like the topstitching seam. Mostly a topstitching seam is done with stitchlength 3,5 or 4. Use thicker thread for a bold look (like jeanswear has). You can take Mettler Extra Strong or even Mettler Cordonnet . Match the needle with the thread.
In the past years I finished a big collection of trousers for my family:
To finish this pocket, I sewed biastape along the rounded side and used Binder Attachment for Pre-Folded Bias Tape #87.
There are more projects to sew than trousers. This is a top fold for a bag:
In the bag Lu by Inspiration, it was an excellent help!
Extra topstitching over biastape looks great, when it’s neatly done.
This is for blouse Aida, by Inspiration:
An extra tip:
When you sew a topstitch line along an edge of a pocket, you can find out that the needle doesn’t always stop in the exact spot at the same distance of both lines of the corner.
In this blogpost ‘Tips for collar darts and topstitching’, you find useful tips.
I hope I inspired you to use edgestitch foot #10 for accurate topstitching of pockets, decorative lines on a jeans or collar and whatever you can think of.
