Dear readers, have you heard of the metal clip for needle holder screws on the L 890? Yes, there is a protective clamp for the L 890 and in this article you can read more about the metal clip! Today I’m getting technical, and not in the sense of sewing techniques.
This is what the clip looks like:
Do you have a screw loose?
Have you noticed that some seem to have a screw loose or even lost a screw? No, not you, but the needle holder of your BERNINA L 890 😉. And don’t you get annoyed because you have to move a screw from one hole to another in the needle holder? If so, you wont have to do this anymore.
For a few months now, there has been a metal clip for needle holder screws for the L 890. It prevents unused needle holder screws from falling out of the BERNINA L 890. This could happen if screws are loosened during the needle change, but are not tightened again afterwards.
So, if the needle holder of your machine has no metal clip, it was produced before October 2024. Then it looks as follows:
Where to get the metal clip for your machine
In this case, contact your authorized BERNINA dealer, where the clip is available as a spare part. Spare part means that it is not an optional accessory, therefore you will not find it on our website. But your dealer will find it and can order it. To ease the process, ask for the following article number: 1072345100.
Your dealer or service technician can also attach the clip, for example when servicing your machine. Replacement screws are of course also available at your dealer.
However, you can easily attach the clip yourself. Below you find detailed instructions. And to ease the process, we have produced a short video tutorial:
Attaching the metal clip for needle holder screws
Check first if all needle holder screws are in place and tighten gently.
Then position the clip on the left side just above the screws.
Turn the clip towards the right while sliding it down over the screws.
Then push the clip on the right side to the rear until it clicks into place.
Tips for the needle change
We recommend to loosen the screws with half a turn when removing the needles.
When another needle is inserted, tighten the screw.
If the needle clamp remains empty, tighten the screw gently as far as it will go.
This also prevents dust and dirt from accumulating in the needle holder.
If a larger needle is used, it may be necessary to loosen the screw a little more.
Following these tips will keep your needles and screws securely in the needle holder for many hours of sewing.
With this I wish you many more hours of pleasure stitching with your BERNINA L 890!
