Hello everyone! We have already passed June of the Temperature Quilt-Along! In Germany, summer is fast approaching. The landscape is covered in lush green and the weather is getting a bit crazy. This early summer time of year is beautiful. The days are currently the longest with an average of 16.5 hours of light.
The first temperature peaks already occurred in June. Maybe it will be warmer than planned for some of you after all. Andrea has received a lot of emails from you about this in the last few days. Andrea and I have therefore selected 3 more Kona fabrics for you:

Last Sunday, the German Weather Service measured the highest temperature in Germany this year. 36.2 degrees. In Switzerland, the annual high was 34.9 degrees, measured in Visp in beautiful Valais. This means that we are still in line with our forecast. The temperatures are measured in the shade.
For those who measure or expect higher temperatures, we recommend the following additional colors:
- Burgundy +37°c/+38°C/+39°C
- Brown +40°C/+41°C/+42°C
- Coffee +43°C/+44°C/+45°C
With these darker colors following the deep red fabrics, you should be well covered during the very warm days with temperature peaks.
If you live in Switzerland, Austria or Germany, you have the opportunity to order fabric from Andrea at Quiltmanufaktur. Reminder for our international friends: You can often find the Kona fabrics at a shop close to you, since they are often used for quilts. Go check with the store you bought your fabrics at the beginning of the year!

Up to end in of June It’s been hot last week
Half way! I’m loving the look of this! A bit like a crazy quilt. 😊
Watching the colour transformation across the months is so exciting. We’re in deep winter here in Canberra, with snow on the hills and icy mornings of -6 but the second quilt I’m doing (Brooklyn NYC) is getting super high temperatures (40+). The third one, Glebe NSW, is at last seeing some cooler temperatures over night. It is very tonal with the small temperature range concentrated between 17 and 25 degrees. It’s all so interesting.
I’m late to this and wondering if you have the temperatures for each fabric in Farenheit? Thank you!
Hi Peggy,
Welcome! You can join anytime 🙂 Jutta has not prepared a scale in Farenheit, but if you look at the comments this article, Diane shared the scale they prepared for themselfs:
“I am in Virginia, USA. I am working in Fahrenheit. We have a wide range of temperatures, but not as low as Germany. I have made my intervals 5 degrees — from 0 to 100. That gives me 20 fabrics.0-5, 6-10, and so on to 100. (…)”
