A seamstress was in the making at age five, when I went to Mother's machine, a no-no and managed to put the needle through my index finger. Ouch! Pulled my hand, snapped the needle and the point remained in my finger. Mother then taught me the basics and we did small projects. In high school I was making some of my clothes and loving it. Fast forward to sewing for my husband and three children, teaching Stretch 'n Sew sewing in the 1970's, and then my own dressmaking business. About to turn 84, I've been quilting for 18 months, since I lost my hubby of 61 years . . . and loving it!
Ps: I sew on a Bernina Record 930, bought in the mid-1970's!
