Hi!
My name is Marlies Witjes, I am 44 years old and live with Marnix. I have a son (aged 12), and 3 bonus sons (18, 18, and 21 years old).
In 2017, I was bitten by the sewing bug. I came across Knipster 2017 just as I was wanting to achieve more creatively. During my participation in this contest I have pushed many boundaries in terms of sewing. Where working with a theme, devising a concept, selecting the fabric and patterns, and subsequently creating a fully-styled outfit was an enormous thrill. I wanted more!
I am currently very active on Social Media under the name Made by LIESL. You can find me on Facebook, Instagram, Blogspot and YouTube. And now also on the Bernina Blog.
I make what I like and what I'm inspired by...which is practically everything I discover, whether that's on the street, on Social Media, contemporary and older fashion, and very much fabrics, prints and haberdashery. In addition, I love recycling clothes and materials. You can often find me in thrift stores where I regularly find hidden gems from which I can create a wonderful outfit, or incorporate into an outfit.
Up until recently I only sewed from existing patterns, (which I actually always adjust slightly), but after a moulage introduction and a course on creative pattern techniques, I now also attempt to make patterns myself. A whole new world! I still have so much to discover technically. Now, I would like you to join me on this quest and my creative interpretation of recycling happiness.
