Denim is a great material: it is extremely tough, resists dirt and has lots of character. It is also suitable to wear in almost all situations. Admittedly, in the sewing machine industry, there are company bosses who don’t think this fabric is stylish enough for the office environment :-). The fabric is suitable as a material for jackets, skirts, dresses, and pants, but can also be used for a baby’s grab ball or a baby’s bib. Originally, this thick cotton fabric was used to make jeans, extremely hard-wearing (work) pants. Today, denim is used for all kinds of sewing projects. Denim fabric is made into trendy items of clothing, home decor items such as pillows and book covers, accessories such as bags or purses, baby accessories and even jewelry.

How to sew the typical jeans seam

They are particularly successful when you use the Lap Seam Foot 71 from BERNINA. This presser foot allows you to sew lap seams with a width of 6 mm on medium to heavy-weight materials.
