My son and daughter-in-law were married in the year 2000 and I was trying to figure out what to give them for their 25th anniversary. When I saw the blog announcing the Temperature QAL, it was an eureka moment, as I’ve been intrigued by temperature quilts the last few years.
As they were living in Miami when they got engaged and married (we all still do), I downloaded weather information for the entire year 2000 from the internet and began planning their quilt. They have a king size bed, so the quilt is BIG! I used 19 of the 20 suggested colors with 3-degree temperature increments (they ranged from 42F – 95F that year) and decided on the flying geese layout. For additional touches, I created an inner border on all 4 sides with each of the 19 colors in order and have the geese pointing up on fair days and down on rainy days. Now to decide what color thread to quilt this!
