Here’s my row 1.
It was my first experience using freezer paper or even any sort of paper piecing. It started out rough (lots of readjusting and recutting), but now I love the method! It just makes everything come out so perfectly.
At first I worried about the “directional fabric” I chose for the background of this row, but I love how it turned out.
A few extra tips I gathered along the way:
1. Cut your pieces generously. Truly, do! – It saves fabric in the long run, because you don’t need to cut the same piece twice.
2. Use a ruler to cut out the rough shapes, you’ll be glad for the straight edges while sewing. I eyeballed half of them and had to trim for easier sewing.
2. Make sure your iron is really hot! With medium setting the paper just didn’t stick properly.
Thank you, Irene, for introducing me to this really cool technique via a project size that was small enough I didn’t quit in frustration.
