Description
I call this “Rainbow Quilt for a Modern Girl”, for my granddaughter’s 13th birthday. I purchased everything except the back fabric from Sugaridoo. I modified some of the rows to give it some interest. I used my favorite shapes from the rows to make the row down the back. I tried to quilt every inch of the negative space. I changed the hashtag row to tic tac toe, a game I have played with my granddaughter for hours. Notice that the gray hashtag is the only tic tac toe that won. I added a turquoise faux flange and a gray striped border. I gave the finished quilt to my granddaughter for her 13th birthday yesterday. She thought it was beautiful. Her sisters want me to make one for each of them. I learned a lot in this quilt along. The paper-piecing I learned help me finish a large paper-pieced elephant quilt for my daughter’s wedding in Zimbabwe.
