"Winnares van Door Het Oog Van De Naald"

Ever since I was a young girl I have been making clothes, first out of small remnants I got off my Mother or Grandmother, later on I would save my pocket money and buy fabrics at the local market or fabric shop. I started by hand stitching everything and anything, but soon I discovered how to use my Mother's sewing machine in secret.

After finishing fashion school I moved to London for six years, this is where I fine tuned all my dressmaking knowledge and where I discovered my passion for corsets and lingerie. My first job in London was at a lovely fabric and haberdashery shop, then a year at Vivienne Westwood after which I started my own clothing line together with a dear friend. I make made to measure corsets, as outerwear but also as foundation of wedding dresses. In my designs I use historical techniques but over the years I have developed a few of these techniques to be applied in a more modern way.

Since my move back to The Netherlands a lot has changed, I have a (almost) two year old little boy, so besides my love of small unmentionables I now also make small clothes for my child. To add to my skill set I taught myself how to knit and crochet by watching youtube videos. At the end of 2014 my friend phoned me and asked wether I would like to enter a dressmaking competition which would be aired on television under the name "Door het Oog van de Naald" (Through the Eye of the Needle). After an exciting but also slightly terrifying race with lots of fantastic challenges we came out as the winners, such an honour!
I now teach masterclasses and courses in the art of corsetry and lingerie and take on fabulous commissions some of which I will share on here.
