Elmer the patchwork cushion
Caitlyn actually started this cushion a few months back on a previous holiday. The little squares are fused in place which gave her every excuse to try out as many fancy embroidery stitches as she could to secure the edges down. It was difficult choosing which ones with so many on the new machine. It was also a wonderful excuse to go through Nanna’s collection of threads (especially the variegated ones)! Apart from Nanna sewing in the zip on the back, she completed the cushion cover herself – brilliant!
This is another fairly easy project. It needed the sewing speed to be slowed down when it came to stitching around curves but quite frankly if it went a bit off line it only added to the charm. Using the needle-down feature helped a lot when turning corners. You can see how pleased she is but that isn’t half as much as Nanna is proud of her.
The computerised scissor and foot-raise buttons get the thumbs up from the grandchildren. They are also very impressed with the needle threader!

Brilliant idea Hilary and what a lucky little girl she is to have a Nanna like you!
I do like this cussion – well done, girl 🙂
