This mini quilt came by as an experiment to see if I can mix background colours well, low volume (actually, not so low) black and white in different prints. The Allison Glass in red depicts not just the essence of the quilt: LOVE but also adds the necessary pop of colour required in the project.
I would say, this project is a success and cutting through yardage to get that scrappy background look was totally worth it. Let me know your views on how to improve.
What I have also tried in this mini quilt is to the use pink Ombre for the spool background, going dark to light (left to right). A perfect companion to such sewing is my Bernina 550QE, it makes the small pieces of paper piecing a breeze!
