IT’S HALLOWEEN TIME AGAIN!

IT’S HALLOWEEN TIME AGAIN!

It is that time of the year again! A time to take out those scary costumes and masks and put them on for parties and for trick-or-treating. I’m going to give you some ideas for quilting a couple of typical Halloween figures to put you in the spirit.

SCARY CORNER FILLER PATTERN:

While doing graffiti quilting, I sometimes run out of ideas to put in corners and what is better than a spider web as a ‘scary’ filler! You can anchor the radial threads of the web to previously stitched quilting patterns. The other option is to just let them trail off and once the web is complete, go in and quilt circles or spirals to make it seem like it is all attached.

TO CREATE YOUR OWN WEB:

START WITH A SPIRAL

DO RADIAL THREAD LINES

DO RADIAL THREAD LINES and anchor these.

Start with a spiral in the hub of the web and back-track on the same stitching line till you get to the start of the spiral. From here, do radial thread lines and back-track on each until you have enough spines. Now start putting the loopy spiral threads in. OTHER SCARY IDEAS FOR HALLOWEEN QUILTING:

Other scary ideas for quilting are bats, the ghost, and of course, Halloween will not be a true Halloween celebration if there isn’t a pumpkin!
